In an experience that combines knowledge of heritage with learning by doing, the Princess Salma Childhood Center organized the "Olive Grain" activity, with the participation of a number of public and private schools, with the aim of introducing children to the importance of the olive tree in Jordanian agricultural and cultural heritage, and strengthening their connection to the folk customs and traditions associated with the harvest season.
The activity included artistic and cultural segments presented by the participating schools, in addition to an olive pressing event, which allowed children to learn closely about one of the inherited traditional practices, in an interactive atmosphere that combines learning and participation, and brings folk heritage closer to their daily experiences.
The activity gains its importance from employing agricultural heritage in activities directed at children, which contributes to consolidating awareness of the value of the olive tree as part of the social memory and national identity, and an element present in Jordanian family customs and folk practices.
The activity comes within the efforts of the Zarqa Culture Directorate and the Princess Salma Childhood Center to implement cultural and heritage programs targeting children, and seeks to develop their awareness of national heritage and strengthen their connection to it through interactive activities.
