Cultural and artistic forums and associations affirm the rejection of terrorism and sedition, and uphold the values of brotherhood and coexistence

Cultural institutions, forums, and associations in Irbid Governorate expressed their condemnation of the terrorist attack that targeted a church in the town of Hamoud in Karak Governorate, affirming their solidarity with the families of the victims and the injured, and their categorical rejection of all forms of violence and extremism that target lives, terrorize the secure, and threaten the security and stability of society.

Statements issued by these institutions emphasized that the attack does not target a place of worship or a specific segment of the nation's people, but rather affects the national and human values that unite Jordanians, confirming that Muslims and Christians are partners in the homeland and destiny, and that national unity will remain a fundamental pillar in confronting attempts to sow sedition and hatred.

The Al-Reef Cultural Forum in Al-Koura District, in a statement signed by its president, Ismail Al-Rababa'ah, affirmed that terrorism represents an assault on the security and stability of the homeland and on the human values that unite the members of one society, warning against attempts to spread fear and division among Jordanians.

The forum pointed out that national unity is not the product of a fleeting circumstance, but a deep-rooted legacy of brotherhood, solidarity, cohesion, belonging, and shared responsibility, confirming that Jordanians, Muslims and Christians, gather under the banner of the homeland and its Hashemite leadership. It also expressed its solidarity with the victims' families, praying for mercy for the martyrs and a speedy recovery for the injured.

For its part, the Al-Sarih Association for Thought and Culture condemned the attack, affirming its rejection of all forms of violence, the infringement on citizens' lives, and the terrorizing of the secure, stressing that these acts contradict the values of Jordanian society, the principles of dialogue, respect for human beings, and the rule of law.

The association affirmed that protecting social peace is a shared responsibility, and announced its solidarity with the people of Karak and its support for the efforts exerted by security services to protect citizens and enforce the law, calling for holding everyone proven responsible accountable before the judiciary. It also called for accuracy, obtaining information from official sources, and avoiding rumors and hate speech.

In turn, the Yaman Cultural Association, represented by its president, the artist Omar Al-Saqqar, affirmed its standing with the people of Karak, stressing that the attack on the church is not an attack on a specific place or a specific segment of the nation's people, but rather an attack on national and human values and the security and unity of the Jordanian people.

The association called for patience and wisdom, avoiding rumors, and adhering to national unity, which constitutes the source of the strength and resilience of Jordanian society, affirming that the cohesion of the nation's people, the solidity of its institutions, and the rallying of citizens around their leadership and security services are fundamental factors in protecting Jordan's security and stability.

In the same context, the Taybeh Cultural Forum denounced the attack, affirming that these acts are incompatible with the values and authentic morals of Jordanian society, that Jordan will remain a model of brotherhood, tolerance, and coexistence among its Muslim and Christian citizens, and that the cohesion of society is stronger than attempts at sedition and division.

The Arin Al-Shamal Association and Troupe for Culture and Arts also condemned the shooting that took place at the Hamoud Church in Karak, describing it as an unacceptable act and an assault on the security of society and the sanctity of death, affirming that Jordan will remain a homeland of security and safety, and that Jordanians will remain one rank behind their Hashemite leadership and security services in confronting everything that affects the security and stability of the homeland. The association extended its condolences to the families of the victims, praying for mercy for the deceased and recovery for the injured.

For its part, the Kharja Forum for Culture and Heritage denounced the attack, expressing its solidarity with the people of Karak and affirming its confidence in the ability of the security services to pursue those involved and bring them to justice. These positions intersect in emphasizing that confronting terrorism is not limited to security measures, but also requires strengthening societal awareness, consolidating the culture of dialogue, tolerance, and acceptance of the other, and countering any discourse that incites hatred or seeks to provoke division among the people of one nation.

Here, the responsibility of cultural and artistic institutions in protecting social peace becomes prominent through their role in spreading knowledge, promoting citizenship values, and affirming that religious and social diversity is part of Jordan's identity and history, and that targeting any component of society is an infringement on all.

In light of the sadness left by the crime, these institutions affirm that solidarity with the people of Karak transcends geographical boundaries to express the unity of Jordanians in the face of violence and terrorism, and adherence to every human being's right to life, security, and worship. They also stress that the rule of law and holding those responsible for the crime accountable, away from rumors and incitement, represent a foundation for protecting society and safeguarding its stability.

The message that unites these positions remains that Jordan, with the diversity of its people and its history based on brotherhood, will remain stronger through its national unity and social cohesion, and that culture, art, and thought will continue to perform their role in confronting extremism and hatred, and consolidating the values of love, tolerance, and coexistence.
