The rules for using alrai.com and Al Rai’s digital services, including reusing our journalism and taking part in comments.

www.alrai.com is an independent news website owned by the Jordan Press Foundation “Al Rai”. It brings you the news, a range of features and the latest local, Arab and international developments.

By browsing the site you agree to all of the terms and conditions below. The Jordan Press Foundation “Al Rai” may change these terms at any time, so please check this page regularly for updates.

Site content

  1. The text, images, video and interactive material on www.alrai.com may be copied, reproduced or reprinted only with credit to the source or a link back.
  2. You may not copy, modify, reproduce, publish, broadcast or exploit the material on this site in any way whatsoever.
  3. Site content is for personal, non-commercial use. Any other use requires prior written consent from the Jordan Press Foundation “Al Rai”.
  4. Some material published on the site belongs to third parties who hold the right to use and protect it (such as news and photos from news agencies). The Jordan Press Foundation “Al Rai” may permit use of that material, except for commercial purposes, subject to prior consent from the Foundation or directly from the third party.

Use of the site

  1. The site must be used in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
  2. The Jordan Press Foundation “Al Rai” accepts no legal liability for misuse of the website or any of its content (directly or indirectly), or if the site cannot be used or some or all of its content is lost, for any reason.
  3. Al Rai offers a subscription to the full edition of the newspaper (news, advertisements, obituaries, society and tenders) through an annual e-paper (PDF) subscription costing JOD 25 inside Jordan or USD 35 outside Jordan, JOD 50 for the printed Al Rai and JOD 100 for The Jordan Times, inside the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. You can pay by credit card on our website or in person at the Distribution Department at the newspaper’s headquarters — Amman, Queen Rania Al Abdullah Street (University Street), near the Press Tunnel — tel. 5600800.
  4. Paid subscriptions cannot be cancelled, and subscribers are not entitled to a refund.
  5. The e-paper (PDF) subscription covers the daily edition only; the subscription price does not include archived editions.

Comments and interactive tools

  1. Subscribers to alrai.com undertake to keep their account details (password and username) confidential, are fully responsible for all activity carried out with them, and must inform the Foundation of any unauthorised use of their password or username or any other breach of account or site security.
  2. This site lets users interact — uploading files, commenting on articles, communicating and messaging — through what are known as “interactive tools”.
  3. Anyone who uses these interactive tools has agreed in advance to the following rules:
  • Do not break the law or encourage others to break it.
  • Do not defame, insult, harass, threaten or infringe the legal rights of others.
  • Do not post or share material, information or links that infringe the rights of others or that are pornographic, obscene, indecent, prohibited or unlawful.
  • Users alone are responsible for posting or sharing material, links, information or opinions that incite violence or sectarianism, disrespect religions, or offend national symbols and principles.
  • Do not send unsolicited email (spam) to anyone.
  • Do not upload or attach files containing viruses, corrupted files or similar malicious software that could disrupt someone else’s computer.

Users acknowledge that contributions made with interactive tools are public, not private, communications.

The Jordan Press Foundation “Al Rai” may edit or delete any contribution that does not comply with these terms, with or without giving a reason.
