Abdul Munim Al-Rifai on Arab Poetry Day.. Celebrating an Experience that Combined Emotion and National Identity

The Ministry of Culture is celebrating the experience of the late Jordanian poet Abdul Munim Al-Rifai, on the occasion of his selection as the poet for the twelfth edition of Arab Poetry Day for the year 2026, through a tribute seminar held next Wednesday at the Department of National Library, shedding light on his poetic career and contributions to Arab culture.

The event begins at eleven in the morning with the opening session, which includes the Royal Anthem, a speech by Minister of Culture Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh, another by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), alongside the screening of a documentary film about the life of the late poet, a speech by the Al-Rifai family, and the presentation of the twelfth edition Arab Poetry Day shield to the poet's family.

The event continues with an academic session moderated by Prof. Aqel Al-Khawaldeh, whose themes address the Arab Poetry Day event and honoring local Arab cultural icons, alongside the heritage and literature of the late poet, with the participation of Dr. Mustafa Hammadi and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Kofahi, followed by a discussion with the attendees.

The celebration of Al-Rifai comes in appreciation of his poetic experience and his standing in the Jordanian and Arab cultural memory, and as a spotlight on the literary impact he left behind that deserves reading and documentation, thereby enhancing the presence of Arab poetry and reconnecting generations with its experiences and icons.
