Cultural stand in Ajloun affirms rejection of terrorism and adherence to national unity

The Ajloun Directorate of Culture organized a solidarity stand on Monday in front of its building, with the participation of representatives from cultural bodies, associations, and forums in the governorate, in solidarity with the people of Karak Governorate and the families of the victims and the injured, and to affirm the rejection of terrorism and extremism and the preservation of the unity of the national fabric.

Director of Culture Samer Freihat said that the attack witnessed by Karak Governorate calls for a unified national stance in rejecting terrorism, affirming the solidarity of the cultural sector in Ajloun with the families of the victims and the injured, and the rejection of targeting citizens and places of worship under any pretext.

He added that targeting citizens on a religious basis contradicts the values of citizenship and coexistence upon which Jordanian society is based, pointing to the importance of preserving the relations that bring together Muslims and Christians and not allowing such events to be exploited to incite hatred and division.

He pointed out that confronting extremism requires, in addition to security efforts, strengthening the role of cultural institutions in raising awareness about the dangers of extremist ideology and intensifying activities directed at youth, which contributes to limiting the spread of hate speech and promoting respect for religious and social diversity.

For their part, participants from cultural bodies, associations, and forums praised the efforts of the security services in protecting the security and stability of the nation, stressing the importance of rallying around the Hashemite leadership and state institutions and maintaining the unity of the national ranks in facing challenges.

The participants stressed that terrorist attacks will not undermine the Islamic-Christian brotherhood that characterizes Jordanian society, confirming that targeting any component of society affects all Jordanians and that preserving the bonds of brotherhood and common citizenship forms a basis for confronting attempts to sow discord and division.
