The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the storming of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif by the extremist Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and groups of extremist settlers under the protection of the Israeli occupation police, considering it a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, an unacceptable escalation, an intolerable provocation, and a blatant violation of the historical and legal status quo in Al-Haram Al-Sharif, as well as a desecration of its sanctity.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry, Ambassador Sufyan Qudah, affirmed the Kingdom's absolute rejection and strong condemnation of the continued unacceptable incursions by ministers, officials, and extremist settlers and their provocative practices, and the facilitation by the Israeli occupation police of these repeated incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif; considering them a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and an absurd and unacceptable act aimed at imposing new realities in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif through attempts to divide it temporally and spatially.
Qudah stressed that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites. He also warned of the consequences of the continuation of these violations and provocative practices.
Qudah called on the international community to take a firm international stance that compels Israel, as the occupying power, to stop its illegal violations and practices towards Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and to stop all measures that restrict the access of worshipers to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.
Qudah reiterated that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entirety of 144 dunums, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Administration, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, is the legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction to manage all affairs of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif and to regulate entry to it.
