MP Walid Al-Masri emphasized that the Royal Speech from the Throne delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Monday, during the opening of the third ordinary session of the 20th Parliament, carried important national and political messages. These messages outlined the features of the upcoming phase and stressed the necessity of translating Royal directives into practical steps that positively impact citizens' lives.
Al-Masri pointed out that His Majesty's emphasis on the necessity of placing the interests of Jordanians at the core of decisions, rather than on the margins, represents the essence of the national responsibility shouldered by both the executive and legislative branches, in light of economic and living challenges that require realistic solutions and implementable programs.
He stressed the importance of the House of Representatives' oversight role in monitoring government performance and ensuring the implementation of national plans and projects, in a manner that achieves the public interest and enhances citizens' trust in state institutions. He affirmed that parliamentary responsibility is not limited to passing legislation, but extends to defending citizens' interests and following up on their issues.
He drew attention to the importance of what was included in the Speech from the Throne regarding the affirmation of the rule of law and the principle of accountability, and that public office is a responsibility and a service to citizens. This calls for enhancing integrity and transparency and establishing the principle of equality before the law, away from any considerations related to position or influence.
Al-Masri asserted that the upcoming phase requires the joining of national efforts, accelerating the implementation of major projects, and strengthening water and economic security, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development and protecting the interests of future generations, in addition to adhering to Jordan's firm positions on Arab issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.
