The Jordan Environment Association commended the contents of the Royal Speech delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah II during the opening of the third ordinary session of the 20th Parliament, particularly His Majesty’s emphasis that water security is a national priority that requires proactive planning and sustainable action.
The Association’s Board Chairman, journalist Ali Azbi Freihat, stated that His Majesty’s emphasis on the water file reflects the strategic importance of this sector in light of the water challenges facing the Kingdom, affirming that protecting water resources is a shared national responsibility that requires the integration of efforts between official institutions, the private sector, and civil society organizations.
He added that the Royal directives call for intensifying efforts to protect water sources from pollution, reducing waste, and enhancing efficiency in their use, in addition to supporting sustainable projects and solutions that contribute to preserving water resources and ensuring their continuity for future generations.
Freihat pointed to the importance of consolidating a culture of rationalizing water consumption and expanding environmental awareness programs in schools, universities, and local communities, noting the role of environmental associations in spreading responsible practices and enhancing community participation in protecting natural resources.
He emphasized that the Jordan Environment Association pays attention to the water file as part of its environmental mission, stressing the need to strengthen partnerships with relevant authorities and translate the Royal directives into practical initiatives that contribute to protecting water resources and achieving environmental sustainability.
