The Neurosurgery Department at the Ministry of Health honored the specialty chief, Dr. Hussein Al-Abadi, upon his retirement, in recognition of his exceptional efforts and significant contributions to advancing the field of neurosurgery across Ministry of Health hospitals nationwide.
This tribute was initiated by specialist physicians and residents in the department, expressing their deep gratitude and loyalty, and honoring his professional journey and the lasting impact he has left on his colleagues, students, and the development of neurosurgery within the Ministry of Health.
According to his colleagues, Dr. Al-Abadi has left a clear mark on the specialty's trajectory, playing a pivotal role in elevating the standard of medical and surgical services. He was among the first to pioneer establishing a training and educational program in neurosurgery within the Ministry of Health, laying the foundation for a generation of physicians equipped with strong academic and practical expertise.
They added that under his leadership, the specialty witnessed a qualitative leap and tangible expansion, reflected in the growth of medical staff—including specialists and resident doctors—and the extension of neurosurgery services to six hospitals across the northern, central, and southern regions of the Kingdom, whereas these services were previously limited to a few hospitals, most notably Al-Bashir Hospital and Prince Hamzah Hospital.
They continued that his contributions extended beyond administrative and developmental roles, as he served as a teacher, mentor, and professional and human father figure for specialist and resident physicians, who consistently found in him a supporter and guide through the knowledge, experience, and professional and personal support he provided.
