His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed, while delivering the Speech from the Throne to open the third ordinary session of the 20th Parliament, that public discourse is a legitimate right for all Jordanians, which the Constitution protects and safeguards, stressing that the country and His Majesty’s heart are open to every sincere and responsible opinion.

Addressing Jordanians, His Majesty said that Jordan’s strength lies in its people, who become more cohesive, insightful, and wise whenever challenges intensify.

His Majesty added that he bets on the awareness of the Jordanian when paths become unclear, on their wisdom when emotions run high, and on their loyalty and dedication when tribulations intensify.

His Majesty addressed the members of Parliament, emphasizing that differences in opinion constitute a source of strength, as long as the interest of Jordan is the goal.

His Majesty delivered the Speech from the Throne; the following is its text:

"In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,

And prayer and peace be upon our Master Muhammad, the Arab Hashemite Prophet, the Trustworthy,

Honorable Senators,

Honorable Deputies,

Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you, and thereafter:

In the name of God, and with God’s blessing, we open the third ordinary session of the 20th Parliament.

A few days ago, the treacherous hand of terrorism reached out to test the resilience of our state and the resolve of our people. But we will be ready for it, and we will not allow the renegade terrorists to touch the security and unity of this homeland. They are not one of us... they have strayed from our great Jordanian family... and betrayed this household... so there is no place for them among us... neither today nor tomorrow.

The blood of the Karak martyrs is a covenant upon our necks, and I invite you to stand for a minute of silence for their souls.

Honorable Senators,

Honorable Deputies,

Jordan has been and will remain impenetrable to every brutal aggressor, and formidable in the face of anyone who ignores the history of this homeland.

This blessed land is protected by brave soldiers whose eyes do not sleep so that their people may sleep soundly... the sons of our Arab Army and our security agencies who have held their souls in their hands, swearing that Jordan’s shield will remain impregnable and its flag flying high and lofty.

For the strength of Jordan lies in a people who, when hardships intensify, become more cohesive, insightful, and wise.

And my bet remains on the Jordanian,

On their awareness when paths become unclear,

On their wisdom when emotions run high,

And on their loyalty and dedication when tribulations intensify.

Honorable Senators,

Honorable Deputies,

Distinguished guests,

We remain steadfast in our position, clinging to our Arab identity and to defending the causes of our nation—as my father did before me, and as my son will do after me—so that a unified Arab voice remains our aim and goal, even if it seems distant.

We emphasize again and again that there is no path to security and stability in our region without fulfilling the right of the Palestinian people to their land. Despite international calls to stop Israeli violations, the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza continues, the ongoing assaults in the West Bank and Jerusalem persist, and Israeli expansionist ambitions remain the greatest threat to the future and hopes of the region.

But peoples will not forget.

Whoever thinks that tyranny grants legitimacy... is delusional.

Whoever thinks that time erases the truth... is delusional.

And whoever thinks that a Jordanian will retreat from their principles... is also delusional.

Honorable Senators,

Honorable Deputies,

Your honorable Parliament is a fundamental pillar and a priority in political life; for the nation is the source of all powers and the wellspring of its strength. By adhering to this principle, our internal front remains impregnable and secure. A strong Jordan is the most capable of defending its interests and the causes of its nation, to be rising to its responsibilities and a support for its brethren.

It is incumbent upon your Parliament to be a voice for the homeland, a guardian of the public interest, a watchdog over government performance, placing the interests of Jordanians first. Your difference in opinion is a strength, as long as the interest of Jordan is the goal.

For Jordanians do not only look at the laws issued from under this dome, but also at the behavior and discourse that emanate from it.

Distinguished guests,

From this rostrum, I address you to affirm to you, as I have always affirmed, that the interest of the Jordanian must be at the core of every decision, not on its margins. True development is what the citizen feels the impact of in their livelihood, opportunities, education, healthcare, and the future of their children.

Today, we walk on the path of economic modernization; work has begun on a number of major, ambitious projects that seek to boost the national economy, enhance its resilience, and build upon Jordan’s pivotal role in the region. I call upon the government to work on accelerating their completion.

Water, water, water!

Our water security is a national priority, and we will not allow the thirst of Jordanians to be held hostage to any circumstance, for there is no room for compromise or appeasement in this matter.

Here, I direct the government to continue with water security projects and to work on developing proactive plans to protect the nation’s resources, ensuring their sustainability and the rights of future generations.

Honorable Senators,

Honorable Deputies,

Distinguished guests,

There is no place in our country and among us for anyone who thinks that public office is an honor that exempts them from work or serving the people.

And there is no immunity for anyone who misuses their position, whoever they may be, for the prestige of the state and the rule of law take precedence over everything.

The law knows no name, no position, and no influence.

O Jordanians... my people and my support,

Public discourse is a legitimate right for you that the Constitution preserves and protects. This homeland’s heart and our hearts are open to every sincere and responsible opinion. Whoever loves Jordan preserves its beauty of giving, the dignity of the word, and the etiquette of disagreement.

You are the object of my trust, and my family and kin are a trust on my neck. I rely, after God, on your devotion to this land. So Jordan remains cherished, of great status and standing.

And peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you."

Upon His Majesty’s arrival at the Parliament courtyard, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the artillery fired twenty-one rounds in salute to His Majesty, the Armed Forces band played the Royal Anthem, and then His Majesty inspected the Honor Guard that stood to greet him.

His Majesty was received upon his arrival by the heads of the branches of government and senior civilian and military officials.

The opening was attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II, a number of Royal Highnesses, princes and princesses, Sharifs, senior civilian and military officials, and members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps.
