The UN High Commissioner for Refugees warned on Tuesday that about 8.3 million refugees and forcibly displaced people may lose vital aid, as protection services decline due to "severe" funding cuts.
The UNHCR said that its "ability to protect and assist refugees, internally displaced persons, and stateless people is eroding due to a persistent and growing funding gap," noting that it had only received 32% of the $8.5 billion it needs this year to protect refugees by the end of July.
