His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein stated that the presidents of continental confederations do not have the right to interfere in the FIFA presidential elections, emphasizing that voting is the right of every member national association.
Prince Ali added, in a post on his "X" account, that recent claims regarding the participation of continental confederation presidents or FIFA Council members in the voting have no basis in the election mechanism.
He pointed out that he returned from Tokyo, where the Asian Football Confederation congress was held, explaining that the first two days of the congress were dedicated to football, while the final day was characterized by a political nature, according to him, and at the behest of FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
He said that reports spoke of a unified Asian position regarding the election of the next FIFA president, but he noted that no one was allowed to speak, ask questions, debate, or talk to the media.
Prince Ali concluded by saying that the lack of transparency leads to a lack of accountability, stressing that no pressures, threats, or bribes should be allowed.
