Son of "Likud" founder: Netanyahu has become a threat to us all and his rule must end

Former Israeli lawmaker Benny Begin, son of the late Prime Minister Menachem Begin, founder of the "Likud" party, called on Sunday for party supporters to vote to end the rule of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, considering that he has become a "threat to us all."

This came in a video clip posted by his son, Avinadav Begin, on his account on the American "X" platform, two days before the Israeli parliamentary elections scheduled for Tuesday.

Addressing the party's supporters, Begin said: "We have traveled a long road together, which was not always easy. 10 or 15 years ago, I served in a government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, and it was a good and useful government for all Israeli citizens."

He added: "We held good and productive discussions, which were closed to the public, but were completely open to friendly differences of opinion among colleagues, and that was one of the best periods of my life."

However, Begin noted: "But then bad things happened to Netanyahu, to the point that I said about him five years ago from the Knesset podium: How far can a person sink?"

He continued: "I said then that this play would be written, and since that time, the tragedy of Netanyahu has been written before our eyes, and we are watching it in astonishment."

Begin criticized Netanyahu's behavior over the past two days, saying: "Netanyahu appeared before us tense, panicked, and terrified; he even threatened us yesterday with destroying Israel's economy, and today he threatened us with dropping an atomic bomb on Tel Aviv, accompanied by a terrifying image."

Begin did not provide further details regarding what he described as Netanyahu's threats, but he stressed that "such a prime minister poses a threat to us all."

Begin issued a direct call to "Likud" party voters, saying: "Members of Likud, put an end to this rule, and send them to the opposition."

He added: "Vote on Tuesday for the parties that will now lead to a change of government, for the sake of our children's future and the happiness of our grandchildren."

This call comes ahead of the Israeli parliamentary elections scheduled for Tuesday, during which Netanyahu seeks to retain power in the face of opposition parties.

Benny Begin is considered one of the historically prominent figures in the "Likud" party, having served as a member of the Knesset (parliament) and held ministerial positions in previous governments, including those headed by Netanyahu, before distancing himself from the party and becoming one of its critics.

His father, Menachem Begin, is one of the founders of the "Likud" party, served as Israeli Prime Minister between 1977 and 1983, and signed the peace treaty with Egypt in 1979.
