Launch of the "Green Taybeh" initiative to promote environmental behavior and individual responsibility

The Director of Education for the Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi District, Dr. Ali Al-Fuqara, accompanied by the Director of Educational Affairs, Mr. Mohammed Al-Saraira, and in the presence of the Educational Development Council, sponsored the environmental initiative implemented by Al-Taybeh Secondary School for Girls in partnership with the Al-Taybeh school network, with the participation of students, under the title "Green Taybeh." The initiative aims to promote positive environmental behavior and instill the concept of individual responsibility toward the environment, based on the firm conviction that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility that begins with the individual and extends to include the entire community.

The initiative was launched under the slogan "Change does not begin with major decisions, but with small, sincere actions," to emphasize the importance of simple daily practices in creating a tangible environmental impact, and to highlight the role of students in bringing about positive change by adopting responsible behaviors that contribute to maintaining cleanliness, reducing environmentally harmful practices, and promoting a culture of sustainability inside and outside the school.

The initiative addressed a number of themes related to environmental behavior and individual responsibility, focusing on the transition from the stage of awareness of the idea to the stage of practical application, so that environmental values are transformed into daily practices that reflect the students' awareness and sense of responsibility toward their school, community, and natural surroundings. It also highlighted the importance of collaborative work between schools in the Al-Taybeh network, unifying educational efforts to spread environmental awareness, and motivating students to actively participate in initiatives that serve the environment and enhance the quality of life.

Al-Fuqara emphasized the importance of qualitative school initiatives that make the student an active partner in bringing about change, noting that the school's role is not limited to providing academic knowledge, but extends to building a conscious and responsible personality, and developing positive values and behaviors that contribute to serving the community and preserving its resources. He also pointed out that instilling a culture of environmental conservation in students represents an investment in a more conscious and sustainable future, and that simple behaviors, when turned into daily habits, are capable of creating a lasting positive impact.

For his part, Al-Saraira emphasized the importance of integrating environmental concepts into daily educational practices and encouraging students to move from theoretical knowledge to practical application, which enhances the spirit of initiative and teamwork, and develops their sense of responsibility toward the school environment and the local community.

The initiative also reflected the role of the Al-Taybeh school network in strengthening partnership and integration among them, employing student activities to spread purposeful awareness messages, and creating a school environment that stimulates creativity and positive participation, in line with educational trends aimed at preparing a generation that possesses the awareness, knowledge, and ability to contribute to facing environmental challenges.

The "Green Taybeh" initiative comes as an embodiment of the educational and societal role of schools in building a sustainable environmental culture, and establishing the conviction that protecting the environment is not the responsibility of a specific entity, but rather an individual and collective commitment that begins with a small step and its impact grows when it turns into a daily practice in which everyone participates.
