A cleaning campaign in the Southern Ghor promotes volunteer work and environmental citizenship for students

The Directorate of Education for the Southern Ghor District has promoted the values of volunteer work and environmental citizenship among students by participating in the national cleaning campaign organized by the Ministry of Environment in the Ghor Al-Safi area, with the participation of a number of district school students and representatives from government departments and security agencies, within the framework of national efforts aimed at preserving the environment and reducing negative practices that affect the cleanliness and beauty of public sites.

The Director of Education for the Southern Ghor District, Dr. Issa Al-Tarawneh, accompanied by educational supervisor Yasser Al-Shammalat and a number of students, participated in the campaign's activities, which included Al-Nakheel Street in the Ghor Al-Safi area, under the patronage of the representative of the Southern Ghor District Administrator, Ibrahim Al-Falahat. The activities included cleaning work and waste collection, with the participation of the concerned authorities, emphasizing the importance of concerted official and community efforts in protecting the environment and preserving public facilities.

The students' participation in the campaign was a practical translation of the role of educational institutions in enhancing environmental awareness among the younger generations, instilling concepts of social responsibility and teamwork, and motivating them to take initiative and participate actively in activities that serve the local community, contributing to transforming awareness of the importance of cleanliness and environmental preservation into daily behavior and responsible practice.

Al-Tarawneh emphasized that students' participation in national campaigns and volunteer initiatives represents an important aspect of the educational mission, due to its role in building the student's personality and strengthening the values of belonging and active citizenship, noting that maintaining the cleanliness of the environment and public facilities is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of various institutions and members of society.

He added that the Directorate is keen to support environmental and volunteer initiatives that provide students with practical opportunities to participate in serving their communities, and enhances their sense of responsibility towards the nation and its resources, in addition to consolidating positive behaviors that contribute to protecting the environment and reducing random littering.

He pointed to the importance of complementary roles between educational institutions, official bodies, and local community institutions in spreading environmental culture and expanding student participation in national activities, in line with the Royal vision of building a conscious and responsible Jordanian citizen, and promoting the culture of volunteering and community participation as two fundamental pillars in the national development process.

The campaign confirms the importance of continuing to implement field and awareness initiatives that target various segments of society, especially students and youth, due to their impact on raising awareness of the importance of public cleanliness and preserving natural resources, and consolidating the concept of environmental citizenship based on commitment, initiative, and joint action, leading to a clean and sustainable environment and a more conscious and responsible society.
