The Chairman of the Irbid Greater Municipality Committee, Imad Al-Azza, confirmed the imminent completion of the logistical and infrastructure works for the operation of the new "Culture Junction" traffic signal, as part of the project to restructure and organize traffic in the area.
During his field inspection of the site, Al-Azza explained that the technical and engineering teams have completed all necessary infrastructure work, along with the required traffic expansion work on the surrounding main streets, notably Wasfi Al-Tal Street and Petra Street.
Al-Azza emphasized that the municipality will fully assume all tasks of operating and managing this strategic project, through the main control room located within the Irbid Greater Municipality building.
He revealed that the project's key feature is the network and electronic linking of 36 traffic signals distributed between the Irbid and Bani Obaid governorates via the control room, enabling centralized traffic system management and ensuring fluidity.
Al-Azza pointed out that the project also includes opening an emergency road designated for civil defense and public security vehicles, extending from the roundabout to the "Nassim Roundabout," to ensure rapid response in emergencies, in addition to providing side roads and exits (exit lanes) to alleviate traffic pressure on the main signal and facilitate vehicle movement.
He noted that the current focus is on installing smart signal devices and equipment in preparation for their official operation in the very near future, once the site's readiness and technical connectivity are fully confirmed.
