The Beni Obaid Municipality announced the start of preparations to install smart surveillance cameras at several traffic signals in various areas of the governorate, to monitor red light violations and traffic violations, as part of its continuous efforts to improve road safety and reduce dangerous behaviors that threaten users.
According to the municipality, the new cameras will automatically record violations as soon as a vehicle exceeds the signal during the yellow or red light, in a move aimed at controlling dangerous violations; such as speeding, not adhering to lanes, improper overtaking, neglecting seat belts, and littering from vehicles.
The first phase of the system focuses on the intersection of King Abdullah II Street (Irbid - Amman) with Martyr Wasfi Al-Tal Street, to monitor the movement of vehicles coming from Irbid and from Wasfi Al-Tal Street towards the capital Amman, in preparation for expansion to include other vital locations; including the signal at the Beni Obaid Security Center and the signal near the Dhofar Mosque.
The municipality emphasized that the safety of citizens is a red line and a top priority that cannot be postponed, explaining that these measures are preventive to provide a safe driving environment and achieve traffic discipline on various roads.
