At least five people were killed and seven others injured in a Russian drone strike on a bus near the front line in southern Ukraine, according to local officials.
Dnipropetrovsk region Governor Oleksandr Konga announced on social media that "five people were killed and at least seven injured as a result of an enemy strike on a minibus in the Nikopol area. The Russians hit the bus with a drone".
Nikopol is located on the opposite bank of the Dnipro River from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which has been controlled by Russian forces since the early days of their invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Photos released by Ukrainian officials showed shattered windows on a white minibus and traces of blood on the side of the vehicle.
Civilian casualties in Ukraine are at their highest since the early months of the war, according to the United Nations, as the pace of strikes intensifies.
