Ukrainian officials said that Russian attacks resulted in the death of three people in two cities in the country on Sunday, and targeted several neighborhoods in the capital, Kyiv.
Russian forces are launching intensive attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, often during the night. In the past few weeks, Russia has been carrying out almost continuous strikes throughout the day.
Oleh Hryhorov, the governor of Sumy region in northern Ukraine, said in a Telegram post that three glide bombs fell near a family support center in the region, which is frequently targeted by Russian attacks due to its proximity to the border, resulting in the death of two people.
Russia has long stated its intention to establish a buffer zone in the Sumy region.
Prosecutors said a drone hit a car in the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city located in the northeast of the country, killing its driver. The city is frequently targeted by Russian attacks.
In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a drone hit a multi-story residential building and caused a fire in a suburb east of the city, injuring one person. Emergency teams extinguished the fire.
Klitschko added that drones hit sites near a kindergarten and a playground in two districts, and that other areas in the city were damaged, with no reports of injuries.
Both sides of the ongoing war, which has been going on for over four and a half years, deny targeting civilians.
