6 injured in Russian raids on Zaporizhzhia and Chernihiv in Ukraine

The governor of the Zaporizhzhia region in southeastern Ukraine, Mykhailo Semikin, said via Telegram on Monday that a Russian attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia resulted in the injury of 4 people overnight.

The Ukrainian Emergency Service stated on Telegram that two people were injured in Russian raids on the Chernihiv region.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Telegram that its forces targeted a power plant in the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, and a warehouse in the surrounding area, in addition to another power plant in the Khmelnytskyi region.

The ministry stated that it also targeted port infrastructure in Chornomorsk and a cargo ship heading to Odesa that was being used for military purposes.

The United States is pressuring Ukraine to stop its attacks on oil refineries in Russia, which it says are causing energy prices to rise, a sensitive issue for US President Donald Trump's administration amidst its war on Iran as the congressional midterm elections approach next month.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview broadcast on Sunday that Moscow must stop targeting energy infrastructure for Kyiv to stop launching attacks.

He added that the United States should, instead, allow the use of the Starshield system, the military version of the Starlink satellite system, over Russian territory to detect missile launch sites or provide Ukraine with Patriot missiles.
