Said Speaker of the Senate Faisal Al-Fayez on Monday that the Royal Throne Speech delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah II, opening the third ordinary session of the Twentieth Parliament, carried multiple messages affirming that Jordan was, and will remain, impervious to every sinful aggressor, and majestic in the face of anyone oblivious to the nation's history.
Al-Fayez added, during the opening of the first session of the Senate in the third ordinary session of the Twentieth Parliament, that this blessed land is protected by brave soldiers whose eyes never sleep so its people may rest in peace, pointing out that the sons of the Jordan Armed Forces and security agencies have sworn to keep Jordan's defenses impenetrable and its flag raised high and proud.
He referred to His Majesty's assertion that Jordan's strength lies in its people, who grow more cohesive and wise as hardships intensify.
Speaking about the terrorist attack on Hammoud Church in Karak, Al-Fayez said the nation lost nine martyrs from among its finest sons, killed in a cowardly terrorist attack carried out by criminals linked to Daesh and takfiri terrorist groups.
He affirmed that the heinous terrorist attack aimed to undermine Islamic-Christian brotherhood, but failed in the face of national unity that brings together all components of society, and only strengthened Jordanians' resolve to rally around their homeland and Hashemite leadership, and their determination to combat the forces of evil and darkness.
Al-Fayez referred to His Majesty's statement in the Royal Throne Speech: "Days ago, the treacherous hand of terrorism reached out to test our state and our people's determination, but we will stand firm against it, and we will not allow Kharijite terrorists to threaten the security and unity of this nation."
Al-Fayez recalled His Majesty's words: "They are not one of us; they have left our great Jordanian family and betrayed this household—there is no place for them among us, neither today nor tomorrow. The blood of Karak's martyrs is a pledge upon our necks."
