Al-Azzam: Throne Speech Lays Foundation for a Significant Phase in Jordan's History and Encourages Municipalities to Do More

Said the Chairman of the Greater Irbid Municipality Committee, Imad Al-Azzam, that the speech delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein Al-Mo'azzam at the opening of the third ordinary session of the Twentieth Jordanian Parliament lays the foundation for a significant phase in Jordan's history, looks ahead to the future, and defines the nature of relationships among all Jordanians, as governed by the Jordanian Constitution.

Al-Azzam added that the King made it unequivocally clear that the unified Jordanian family remains cohesive and rejects extremists who have detached themselves from their homeland and their great Jordanian family.

Al-Azzam noted that the speech clearly indicates that Jordan, despite the turmoil and wars surrounding it from all directions, has not abandoned the Palestinian cause, as His Majesty clearly stated: "There can be no security or stability in our region without fulfilling the Palestinian people's right to their land."

Al-Azzam further stated that His Majesty's speech provides Jordanian municipalities with strong motivation to work diligently and strive to elevate citizens' living standards and improve service delivery. His Majesty emphasized that genuine development is that which citizens feel directly in their livelihoods, opportunities, education, healthcare, and their children's future. He affirmed that all these principles lie at the core of municipal work, which will seek to enhance its tools and redouble its efforts to follow the path set by the esteemed leader of the nation.

Al-Azzam called for drawing broad municipal work guidelines from His Majesty’s speech, by initiating major projects that support the national economy and facilitating the establishment of large-scale investment projects within municipal boundaries.

Al-Azzam referred to His Majesty’s statement: "There is no place in our country among us for those who think that public office is an honor that exempts them from work or serving the people," clarifying that municipalities operate in direct contact with citizens, and that His Majesty’s words provide them with a moral boost to increase efforts, achieve results, hold negligent employees accountable, and reward dedicated ones.

Al-Azzam explained that the municipality draws many meanings from this speech and takes inspiration from it to set goals that contribute to serving Jordan and fulfilling His Majesty’s aspirations.
