Al-Harout: A scientific platform for exchanging expertise and keeping pace with surgical developments

The capital, Amman, will host, from October 22 to 24, the proceedings of the 54th annual conference of the Jordanian Surgeons Society, in conjunction with the 14th Conference of Surgical Specialties at the Ministry of Health, and in cooperation with the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists (IASGO), with the participation of doctors, surgeons, and experts from 24 Arab and foreign countries.

The conference, which will be held at the InterContinental Amman Hotel, under the theme "Precision Surgery: From Scientific Evidence to Practice," comes within the framework of efforts aimed at promoting continuing medical education, exchanging scientific and professional expertise, and keeping pace with developments in various surgical specialties, contributing to the development of medical practices and improving the quality of healthcare provided to patients.

The President of the Jordanian Surgeons Society, Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Harout, emphasized the importance of the conference in strengthening scientific communication between surgeons and experts from various countries of the world, providing an opportunity to learn about the latest technologies and developments in the field of surgery, in addition to consolidating ties of cooperation between Arab and international medical institutions and societies.

Al-Harout said that the participation of an elite group of surgeons and experts from 24 countries reflects the importance of the conference as a scientific platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise, and enhancing cooperation between medical personnel, noting the Society's keenness to organize qualitative events that keep pace with the rapid developments in surgical specialties and support the advancement of the scientific and professional level of doctors.

He added that the conference's scientific program includes a set of specialized sessions and training events that address advanced medical topics, most notably liver transplantation using minimally invasive techniques, pelvic floor disorders, and inflammatory bowel diseases, providing opportunities for learning, exchanging expertise, and developing the scientific and practical skills of the participants.

Al-Harout pointed out that the conference pays special attention to the role of female surgeons and their contributions to the development of the profession by dedicating a scientific session that highlights their professional experiences, achievements, and the challenges they have faced during their careers, emphasizing the importance of enhancing women's participation in various surgical specialties and highlighting their role in the path of medical development.

In a humanitarian dimension that reflects the mission of the medical profession, the conference includes a live broadcast from the Gaza Strip, allowing for communication with doctors and surgeons there and the exchange of scientific and professional expertise in light of the difficult circumstances facing the health sector. This initiative comes as an affirmation of the importance of solidarity among medical personnel and the necessity of continuing scientific communication and knowledge exchange to serve patients and support efforts aimed at developing healthcare.

The program includes scientific lectures, discussion sessions, and specialized workshops that address the latest developments in surgical practices, highlight the importance of adopting scientific evidence in making medical decisions, and support continuing medical education and capacity building for doctors, especially young personnel, to enhance their professional competence and keep pace with the requirements of development in the health sector.

The holding of the conference confirms the role played by the Jordanian Surgeons Society in supporting scientific research and professional development, and strengthening partnerships with regional and international medical societies and institutions, in addition to providing a scientific environment that allows for the exchange of experiences and expertise and learning about the latest innovations and technologies in various fields of surgery.

The Society called on the media to keep pace with the conference activities, cover its scientific sessions and accompanying workshops, and highlight the importance of international participation in enriching medical discussions and enhancing scientific cooperation, which contributes to consolidating Jordan's position as a center for hosting specialized medical events and a destination for scientific communication and the exchange of expertise at the regional and international levels.
