US President Donald Trump said that the United States can easily fulfill his promise to grant American adults a "cash distribution" of $5,000 if the Republican Party retains control of Congress in the midterm elections, stressing that he always keeps his promises.
Trump explained to reporters in response to a question about whether Congress would need to approve this pledge: "I don't know, but it's easy if the Republicans win. Five thousand dollars for every adult in the country, and we can easily afford that because we are making a lot of money."
He added, "The Democrats cannot make this pledge because things will collapse immediately, and we will enter a depression... I made this pledge, and I always keep my promises."
Trump had promised every adult in the United States $5,000 if the Republicans maintained control of Congress in the midterm elections scheduled for next November.
Trump stated at a Republican Party conference in Dallas: "If the Republicans win the House and the Senate, both... thanks to our immense strength and economic success, I will allocate $5,000 to every adult citizen in the United States of America."
He added, "The only condition I am placing is that the amount be spent inside the United States of America," saying, "It will be called the Trump Dividend," without clarifying the source of the funds.
