Across the vast and empty desert, giant wind turbines are deployed to generate electricity using advanced technology at the Yumen wind farm located in China's Gansu province, affiliated with Gansu Longyuan New Energy Co., Ltd., which in turn belongs to the state-owned China Energy Investment Corporation.
The press delegation representing media outlets from several Arab countries, including "Al-Mamlaka", which is visiting China to participate in a training program, conducted a field visit to the Yumen project and listened to officials there regarding the work of the state-owned company and the safety procedures followed to protect workers.
Officials running Longyuan Company stated during the journalists' tour that they are among the earliest specialized companies in China to work on developing wind energy.
They pointed out that the company is described as "the first Chinese stock in the new energy sector."
When asked about their work locations inside and outside China, they said that the company owns a large number of wind and solar energy projects both inside and outside China.
Regarding the nature of the equipment used in the company's work, they confirmed that it is domestically manufactured, noting that the company has contributed to leading China's wind power industry from the trial and demonstration projects stage to the large-scale development stage.
Regarding the company's beginnings, its officials told the press delegation that in 1997, four experimental turbines imported from Denmark were installed at the site, which locals called the "Four Little Swans." These turbines formed the first experimental wind farm in Gansu Province and marked the beginning of large-scale expansion in wind energy development.
Company officials explained, during their briefing in Chinese which was translated into Arabic, that these projects contribute to supporting the general plan of the Jiuquan wind power base.
According to company officials, the installed capacity of renewable energy projects controlled by the company reached about 46 million kilowatts by the end of 2025, including more than 32 million kilowatts of wind power.
Company officials revealed that its work includes onshore and offshore wind power, high-altitude wind power, and low-wind-speed area projects.
The company has also established a wind farm in Nagqu, described as the highest altitude in the world, and has developed a group of large offshore wind power projects in China, contributing to expanding the utilization of wind energy.
Regarding its work in overseas markets, company officials said it has implemented wind power projects in countries including South Africa, Canada, and Ukraine.
Technical specialists also provided an explanation to the press delegation during the tour regarding the key technologies adopted by Longyuan Power Company, which include wind turbine control systems, smart monitoring, and the integration of renewable energy with energy storage systems.
It is worth noting that Gansu Province, with its arid deserts, possesses massive energy reserves; it is the birthplace of the Yumen oilfield, the first petroleum industrial base in New China, contributing significantly to the country's development. With the end of the twentieth century and the development of new energy sources, Gansu has once again taken a leading position.
