US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that interest rates in the United States should be the lowest compared to countries around the world, ahead of the monetary policy meeting of the Federal Reserve (the US central bank) scheduled for the coming days.
When asked if he expected the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates on Wednesday, Trump told reporters on the sidelines of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open that he had no knowledge of that, adding, "Our country's interest rate should be the lowest among the countries of the world, regardless of their equations."
