The International Organization for Migration announced on Sunday the displacement of an additional 930 people from two villages in Al-Fasher province, the capital of North Darfur state, western Sudan, due to deteriorating security conditions.
The International Organization said in a statement: "The organization's field teams estimated the displacement of an additional 930 people from the villages of Halila Um Qadeer and Tura in Al-Fasher province, North Darfur, between September 16 and 18, due to the exacerbation of insecurity".
It pointed out that the affected families have been displaced to Tawila province in North Darfur.
It confirmed that "the situation remains tense and volatile, and that it is closely monitoring developments".
Earlier on Sunday, the International Migration Organization said that 1,000 people were displaced from three villages in Amboro province, North Darfur, on September 17, due to the exacerbation of insecurity.
On September 14, the International Organization for Migration announced the displacement of 1,180 people from the villages of Hala Saleh and Kalkol, in Al-Fasher province, due to the exacerbation of insecurity.
Out of Sudan's 18 states, the Rapid Support Forces control the five states of Darfur region, except for parts of North and West Darfur states that remain under the control of the army, while the army exerts its influence over most of the other 13 states, including the capital, Khartoum.
Humanitarian suffering in Sudan is exacerbated by the war between the army and the "Rapid Support" that has been ongoing since April 2023 due to a dispute over the unification of the military institution, resulting in the killing of tens of thousands and the displacement of about 13 million people.
