A Reuters/Ipsos poll, the results of which were published on Monday, showed a slight rise in the popularity of US President Donald Trump to 32 percent, an increase of one percentage point from the record low recorded last week, ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for November 3, which will determine the party that controls Congress.
Trump's fellow Republicans are struggling to maintain their majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
When poll participants were asked which party they would vote for in the congressional elections, about 47 percent chose the Democratic Party, compared to 36 percent who chose the Republican Party.
The five-day poll showed that 11 percent have not yet decided who they will cast their votes for if the elections were held today.
The 11-percentage-point gap between the Democrats and Republicans is one percentage point lower compared to the Reuters/Ipsos poll published on October 19.
For Republicans, losing control of either chamber could complicate Trump's agenda during the final two years of his presidential term.
