Sudan.. 765 displaced from Amboro in North Darfur state within one day

The International Organization for Migration announced on Sunday the displacement of 765 people from two villages in Amboro province, North Darfur state, within one day, due to insecurity.

The organization stated in a statement that field teams estimated the displacement of an additional 765 people from the villages of "Wadi Arkuri" and "Um Mahrik" in Amboro province, North Darfur, on October 2nd.

It explained that most families crossed the border into Chad, noting that this wave of displacement comes in the wake of a previous incident reported on September 17th.

The International Organization for Migration confirmed that the situation remains tense and volatile, and that it continues to closely monitor developments.

On September 17th, 1,000 people were displaced from 3 villages in Amboro province, North Darfur, within one day, due to the exacerbation of insecurity, according to the International Organization for Migration.

Humanitarian suffering in Sudan is exacerbated by the war between the army and the "Rapid Support", which has been ongoing since April 2023 due to a dispute over the unification of the military institution, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of about 13 million people.

Of the 18 states of Sudan, the Rapid Support Forces control the five states of Darfur region, except for parts of North and West Darfur states that remain under army control, while the army exerts its influence over most of the other 13 states, including the capital, Khartoum.
