The Public Institution for Social Security revealed an increase in the number of active insured individuals to 1,685,387 as of the end of September 2026, compared to 1,615,664 as of the end of September 2025, an increase of 69,723 insured individuals, with a growth rate of about 4.3%.
The institution explained that this increase comes in light of the measures and procedures it has taken over the past period to expand the base of those covered by the social security umbrella and enhance the reach of social protection to various categories of workers and establishments, most notably the expansion of electronic linking and the use of government data in inclusion procedures, the inclusion of expatriate workers, in addition to following up on active individual establishments and expanding field inspection procedures to verify the inclusion of workers in them.
The institution pointed out that the electronic linking with related authorities has contributed to enhancing the institution's ability to monitor workers not covered by social security, and to take more effective and systematic measures to include them, including measures related to expatriate workers, where an electronic mechanism was adopted to notify establishments employing non-insured expatriate workers, in preparation for correcting their status and including the workers, in addition to working to automatically and systematically include workers who should be included.
The institution also continued its procedures related to the inclusion of active individual establishments, where it worked to address thousands of individual institutions with valid professional licenses and not covered by the provisions of the Social Security Law, to verify their status and complete the procedures for their inclusion and the inclusion of their workers, subjecting cases that require it to field inspection.
The institution confirmed that field inspection constitutes one of the basic tools for verifying the reality of work in establishments, ensuring the presence of workers in them, and including them under the umbrella of social security, thereby enhancing the enforcement of the law's provisions and protecting workers' insurance rights.
It pointed out that these procedures come within a continuous approach to expanding the scope of social protection and insurance coverage and reaching workers entitled to protection, and benefiting from the development of the electronic linking system and the data available with government agencies, which contributes to raising the efficiency of inclusion procedures and enhancing justice in the application of the provisions of the Social Security Law.
