UN Committee: Israel is committing genocide in the West Bank and Gaza

3,000 Palestinians displaced from Hebron due to occupation operations

5 Palestinians martyred in Israeli raids on the Strip

An international commission of inquiry mandated by the United Nations accused Israel on Monday of committing crimes against humanity against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including the crime of "extermination," and of continuing to carry out genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The committee concluded in a new report that "Israeli authorities and forces have committed crimes against humanity in the West Bank consisting of extermination, torture, rape, and other forms of sexual violence, in addition to persecution, based on overlapping discriminatory motives centered on nationality, race, and ethnic affiliation," while the committee considered that the Hebrew state "continues to commit acts of genocide" in the Gaza Strip.

For its part, the Hebron Municipality announced the displacement of more than 3,000 people as a result of the ongoing Israeli military operation in the city, the largest city in the occupied West Bank.

The municipality stated that the operation, which began on Saturday, led to the displacement of 3,189 people, including more than 200 infants and 32 people with disabilities, in response to an attack carried out by two Palestinian gunmen that resulted in the killing of two Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint near the city.

Israeli forces entered the Ein Deir Bahah neighborhood, where the perpetrators of the attack originated, and ordered residents to evacuate their homes and leave the area, after Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to carry out a broad military operation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Photos by Agence France-Presse on Sunday showed a convoy of army vehicles and Israeli police vehicles accompanied by soldiers on a street in Hebron that had been closed to civilian traffic.

The neighborhood mukhtar, 70-year-old Hijazi Shawar al-Tamimi, who owns a chicken and feed store, had previously accused Israeli soldiers of assaulting him when he tried to head to his home.

Speaking from his hospital bed with his leg wrapped in a thick bandage, he said, "I remember one or two people started hitting my legs, chest, and shoulders, and one of them even hit me on the head."

"Then they pushed me back, and I kept moving away until I reached a safe area," he added.

On the other hand, medical sources and civil defense reported that five Palestinians, including a young girl, were martyred in Israeli airstrikes on Monday in the Gaza Strip.

Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal stated that 13 people were martyred and 60 were injured by Israeli fire and airstrikes on Gaza over the past 24 hours.

Basal reported: "We transported three martyrs, two men and a young girl, following an Israeli airstrike that targeted a camp for displaced persons in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis city."

The Israeli army stated that it was "not aware" of any military activity in that area on Monday.

Nasser Hospital in the city confirmed the arrival of the three martyrs, whose "bodies were torn apart by direct injuries from shrapnel from the Israeli missile, and a number of injured people, including a child and a woman, also arrived at the hospital."

The hospital stated that the martyrs were identified as Hossam Fakhri Muhammad al-Zamli, Tamer Abu Suneima, and the child Jouri Islam al-Soufi.

It also clarified that it received "two injuries from the fire of the occupation forces near the Well 19 area in southern Khan Yunis."

Likewise, the Civil Defense in Gaza mentioned that a fourth Palestinian was martyred in an airstrike that targeted a tent housing displaced Palestinians near Khan Yunis.

In the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, an airstrike resulted in the martyrdom of one person and the injury of three others, according to Al-Shifa Hospital in the city.

On the other hand, a security source said that "tanks and military vehicles accompanied by a military bulldozer infiltrated the area located west of the Yellow Line in the eastern region of Deir al-Balah city" in the center of the Strip.

He added that the incursion coincided with "heavy gunfire by the occupation forces towards the eastern and northern areas" in Deir al-Balah, which house hundreds of displaced families.

Since the announcement of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel in October 2025, a fragile truce has prevailed in the devastated Gaza Strip.

Since then, at least 1,538 people have been martyred, according to the latest count by the Ministry of Health in the Strip, which is run by a government committee affiliated with Hamas, and whose figures the United Nations considers reliable.
