US President Donald Trump said on Monday that the elections in Brazil were "rigged" and marred by "major corruption," after President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defeated the right-wing candidate Jair Bolsonaro, who was supported by Trump.
Trump told reporters as he left Washington to participate in a rally supporting his midterm election campaign, "It looked terrible to me." He added, "I didn't take sides, but frankly, it looked like another rigged election... It seemed marred by major corruption, and it was very terrible."
