Trump threatens Iran: Either a deal or military destruction

US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with either reaching an agreement with the United States or facing military "destruction," saying the choice before him has become between signing a deal with Tehran or "obliterating it completely."

This came in an interview with the American "Fox News" channel on Sunday, during which Trump reviewed his country's foreign policy ahead of the midterm congressional elections scheduled for November 3.

In his threat to Iran, Trump said: "Do I sign a deal with them or do I obliterate them completely? That is the only question."

He claimed that his country has achieved everything it wanted in the confrontation with Iran, alleging that it has "destroyed" Tehran's capabilities, especially on the military and economic fronts.

Trump also claimed that control over the Strait of Hormuz is now entirely in the hands of the United States, and that his country has allowed oil to pass through the strait at levels similar to those before the war.

He continued: "Remember, we are the ones controlling the Strait of Hormuz now. They get nothing, we take everything."

Trump indicated that the naval blockade imposed on Iran continues with great effectiveness.

In a press statement made before leaving the White House for the state of Michigan to participate in an election rally, Trump avoided giving a definitive answer regarding when potential attacks on Iran might end, limiting himself to saying: "There will be no strike today."

He added, "I don't want to disclose anything. The answer is no, there will not be a strike (on Iran) today."

On Saturday, in response to a question about the possibility of launching new strikes against Iran, Trump stated: "We may have to go through with this to the end, or perhaps they will reach an agreement. I am not sure, but in any case, we will be the winners. However, the possibility of bombing Iran again remains."

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a war on Iran, and the latter responded with attacks on Israel and American sites in countries in the region, before a ceasefire was reached last April.

The United States subsequently launched attacks on sites in Iran, in light of the stalled negotiations between the two countries, despite their signing of a memorandum of understanding in mid-June.

Iran had announced on July 12 the re-closure of the Strait of Hormuz, following the United States' resumption of its attacks on the eighth of the same month.

In another context, Trump claimed that the primary reason for the ongoing events in France is not education or the economy, but rather "immigrants" and "border security."

He pointed out that he had previously advised French President Emmanuel Macron to close the borders, but France did nothing in this regard, considering the current events an extension of the immigration problem.

Trump continued: "I have closed the borders completely, and you know that infiltration cases have become zero, and no irregular immigrant is coming anymore, while you are destroying France by rolling out the red carpet for those who harbor hatred for your country to enter it."

On October 17, France witnessed protests organized by the "Yellow Vests" movement, which also enjoys the support of students, in rejection of the high cost of living and fuel prices, followed by other protests yesterday, Saturday, in which hundreds of thousands of protesters participated.

The protests resulted in the arrest of about 2,700 people and the injury of more than a thousand police, gendarmerie, and firefighting personnel, while about 3,000 shops were damaged or looted.
