The Social Security Corporation announced that the number of active insured individuals has risen to more than 1 million and 705 thousand during the current month of October, an indicator reflecting the Corporation's continued efforts to expand the scope of coverage under the Social Security umbrella and enhance insurance protection for workers in various sectors.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Corporation explained that this increase resulted from new measures it has taken, in addition to covering workers on the additional education payroll and new employees in the private education sector, which contributed to increasing the number of active insured individuals. It indicated that it continues to pursue measures aimed at expanding the base of those covered by the provisions of the Social Security Law and enhancing access to insurance protection for eligible groups.
It added that its efforts to expand the scope of coverage under the Social Security umbrella continue through expanding electronic connectivity with relevant entities, utilizing government data to identify workers who must be covered, monitoring the status of establishments and their employees, and expanding field inspection procedures to verify actual coverage under the Social Security umbrella.
The Corporation emphasized that expanding the base of active insured individuals is one of its priorities, due to its role in enhancing social protection for workers and establishing the principle of covering all groups to whom the Social Security Law applies, ensuring their insurance rights and providing them with protection in accordance with the provisions of the law.
It stated that the Corporation will continue to implement its measures and initiatives aimed at expanding the scope of insurance coverage and enhancing the efficiency of its oversight and electronic procedures, contributing to reaching uncovered workers and achieving greater fairness in the application of the Social Security Law provisions.
