Partnership between "Sanduq Hayat" and "Aqaba Medical" opens a new path for students in the south

The dream of studying medicine is not solely tied to the cost of university fees, as its expense in the south includes transportation, housing, living expenses, and the burden of being away from family, especially for children from villages and remote areas, making financial capability a challenge for students who possess excellence and ambition.

In this context, the partnership between Sanduq Hayat Education Fund – Aqaba branch and Aqaba University of Medical Sciences, aims to provide a support path that goes beyond tuition discounts to helping students access education and continue until graduation.

Osama Abu Talib, Chairman of the Administrative Committee for the South Branch of Sanduq Hayat Education Fund, said that the agreement is based on the idea that student support should not stop at temporary financial assistance, but should turn into an integrated opportunity that enables them to access education, continue it, and build their professional future.

He added to Al-Rai that the Fund treats education as a long-term investment in human capital, and the rising cost of medical and health specialties, housing, transportation, and living expenses makes building partnerships with universities and educational institutions a necessity to reach students who have ambition and academic ability and face financial challenges. He explained that the agreement is part of the Fund's approach in the south to transition from the concept of support to empowerment, through partnerships that do not just reduce the cost of study, but open up a real opportunity for the student to access their specialty and continue in it, indicating work to expand partnerships with educational institutions, the private sector, and community organizations.

For his part, Dr. Amjad Al-Shatrat, President of Aqaba University of Medical Sciences, confirmed that supporting students and providing wider opportunities to join medical and health specialties is a fundamental aspect of the university's community responsibility, explaining that the partnership targets new students from Aqaba and southern governorates for the academic year 2026-2027. Under the agreement, a student from Aqaba Governorate in the field of human medicine receives an annual total support of 2000 dinars, 1000 dinars as a discount from the university and 1000 dinars as support from Sanduq Hayat.

In the field of dentistry, the annual cost is set at 8000 dinars, including registration fees and class hours for students from Aqaba, Ma'an, and Tafila governorates. In the fields of nursing and medical and laboratory analysis, the reduced rate per hour is 40 dinars, while in the fields of anesthesia and emergency and emergency care, it is 60 dinars per hour.

The agreement also includes supporting two students from the top batches from Aqaba Governorate, with the university providing a 2000 dinar discount for each student, in addition to additional support from Sanduq Hayat worth 1000 dinars, according to the academic excellence criterion. The partnership is an extension of Sanduq Hayat's journey, which began about 17 years ago, and has reached more than 5600 students, as part of its approach to linking support with opportunity and education with a more stable professional future.
