The Syndicate of Olive Press Owners and Producers, Tayseer Al-Najdawy, expects the olive harvest season to start in mid-October next month, predicting that the price of a tank of olive oil during the current season will range between 100 and 110 dinars.
Al-Najdawy said on Monday that the current season will be better than last season due to the amount of rain that fell on the Kingdom, expecting that the amount of oil produced will be sufficient to cover local consumption needs, with the possibility of achieving a surplus for export.
He pointed out that the rains that fell in some northern areas in recent days will contribute to improving the quality of the product during the current olive oil season.
The expectations of an improved new season come after a sharp decline in olive oil production last season, as data from the Department of Statistics showed that the 2025 season's production was 16,342 thousand tons of oil, a 54.4% decrease from the previous season, which produced 35,828 thousand tons, and 34.4% less than the average production for the period 2012-2024, which was 24,923 thousand tons.
The amount of olives processed in the 2025 season was approximately 84,154 thousand tons, compared to 184,903 thousand tons in the previous season, according to the results of the olive press survey issued by the Department of Statistics.
The decline in production last season led the Ministry of Agriculture to stop exporting green olives, before later opening the door to importing olive oil to compensate for the shortage in local production and secure market needs.
In contrast, the Ministry of Agriculture recently said that the indicators for the current season are promising in terms of production and quality in light of the rainy season, confirming the continuation of measures aimed at regulating the olive oil market and covering the needs of the local market, while allowing exports to maintain the traditional markets for the Jordanian product.
The Ministry, in cooperation with the Department of Statistics, has begun preparations to implement the statistical survey of olive and olive oil production for the new season, which will include all olive presses in the Kingdom, with weekly monitoring of production data during the season.
The General Organization for Food and Drug Control has also developed a proactive plan for the 2026/2027 olive oil season, which includes tracking oil and ensuring its safety at all stages of the supply chain, from the source to the consumer.
