An official Lebanese source said that the meeting of the Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors began in the American capital, Washington, on Tuesday evening, to break the stalemate in negotiations between the two countries.
The source, who preferred not to disclose his identity, stated in a statement to Anadolu that "the meeting of Lebanese Ambassador Nada Ma'awed and Israeli Ambassador Ya'aiel Laiter began at the US Department of State about an hour ago (at 20:15 GMT)".
He added that the ambassadors "will discuss in Washington the developments in Lebanon and the mechanism for implementing the framework formula" that was reached in June.
The meeting is being held concurrently with the postponement of a round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, which was scheduled to take place this weekend in the Italian capital, Rome, to October.
