Israeli Occupation Launches Tender for 400 New Settlement Units East of Qalqilya

The Anti-Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission revealed that the Israeli occupation authorities launched a new tender, numbered 196/2026, to build 400 settlement units in the "Karnei Shomron" settlement, established on Palestinian citizens' lands east of Qalqilya.

The commission explained, in a statement on Thursday, that the tender falls under multi-unit settlement construction, and within the framework of tenders that the occupation authorities continue to launch with the aim of expanding existing settlements and increasing their capacity, noting that the tender closing date is set for November 23, 2026.

The commission pointed out that the tender launch represents a practical transition from the planning phase to the marketing and implementation phase, and comes in the context of accelerating settlement measures in the West Bank during the current year.

It explained that the "Karnei Shomron" settlement gains importance in the occupation's settlement plan in the northwest of the West Bank, due to its location within a settlement cluster that the occupation authorities are working to expand and connect with surrounding settlements and outposts.

The commission said that these measures contribute to expanding the scope of settlement at the expense of Palestinian lands, and deepening the fragmentation of the West Bank and the geographical connectivity between its cities and towns.
