Irbid: More than 31 thousand visitors under the "Jannah.jo" (Our Jordan is a Paradise) program boost tourism and economic activity

Tourism sector experts and investors considered the "Jannah.jo" program, launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, one of the most prominent national programs capable of revitalizing domestic tourism and directing the compass toward the natural and historical treasures that the governorate boasts.

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and director of the "Jannah.jo" program, Dr. Ahmed Al-Rifai, revealed that Irbid Governorate attracted 31,856 participants during the program's trips between March 31 and October 24, 2026, including 30,491 day-trip participants and 1,365 participants in overnight programs.

Al-Rifai explained that 88 tourism agencies benefited from the program in organizing trips to the governorate, in addition to the participation of 11 restaurants and 4 accommodation facilities, as well as the employment of 1,024 tourist guides and buses, reflecting the volume of tourism activity linked to the program and the integration of services provided to visitors.

He emphasized that this turnout cements Irbid's presence on the domestic tourism map, given its abundance of archaeological and heritage sites such as "Umm Qais" and "Pella," and contributes to stimulating economic activity, supporting local establishments, and enabling visitors to discover the governorate's cultural and historical assets.

For his part, the owner of "Al-Tareeq Al-Amin" (The Safe Path) tourism transport company and board member of the Jordan Tourism Board, Ahmed Abu Yaqeen, confirmed that the program is one of the best programs launched by the Ministry, as it directly targets agencies, tourism and transport companies, which contributed to moving the wheel of this vital sector and providing a valuable opportunity for citizens to learn about domestic tourism landmarks.

Aseel Al-Nawaqleh, from the "Yarmouk Women's Association for Handicrafts" located in the archaeological village in the Umm Qais area, also confirmed that the "Jannah.jo" program has tangibly contributed to increasing the rates of Jordanian visitors and tourists to the archaeological site. Al-Nawaqleh explained that this active turnout helped the women market and sell their handmade products, pointing out that the association worked on developing and designing heritage accessories and crafts that suit visitors' tastes and meet their requirements.

In turn, Majdi Abu Zaitoun, from the "Duroob Al-Sabah Tourism Association" in Al-Koura District, who participates in the program's activities, explained that "Jannah.jo" greatly suits the aspirations of families and limited-income individuals, thanks to its reasonable cost and distinguished services that encourage exploring diverse tourism trails in Jordan and highlighting new and attractive areas.

In a related context, the owner of "Arabios" restaurant, Muawiya Al-Rousan, said that the restaurant is one of the leading family projects in the Umm Qais area, noting that the Jordanian tourist and families are the biggest beneficiaries of this program, which is witnessing a great turnout and increasing numbers of participants, which positively reflects on commercial activity, family projects, and tourist restaurants in the area.

Al-Rousan called for the importance of conducting a precise study to classify the restaurants participating in the program according to the level of services and quality provided to visitors, so that prices and returns are commensurate with the classification of each restaurant, "such as five-star classified restaurants," to ensure the continued provision of the best levels of service to visitors and to reflect the bright image of Jordanian tourism.

Regarding municipalities and local administrations, the head of the Khaled bin Al-Walid Municipal Committee, Engineer Rawya Gharaybeh, confirmed that the "Jannah.jo" program contributed directly to increasing the number of visitors arriving at the tourist and archaeological areas affiliated with the municipality, which positively reflects on the economic activity of local events.
