Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said on Sunday that Tehran has clarified its positions through intermediaries regarding the US response to its plan
He added that the US proposal resembles previous ones and focuses on the nuclear file, while Tehran wishes to focus on the Strait of Hormuz.
He pointed out that the issue of the return of the International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors has not been discussed, and that there are additional points that still need to be communicated to the US side.
In the same context, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened unless the seven Iranian conditions stipulated in the interim agreement signed with the United States in June are met, just days after Tehran received Washington's response to its diplomatic proposal.
Ghalibaf said, "The Americans, who say something different in the media, have recently put forward proposals through an intermediary. But they must realize that the phase of procrastination and unilateral demands is over," according to Nour News website.
He added, "The position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is very clear and firm, and the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until our seven conditions are met, based on the Islamabad memorandum of understanding."
