Official media quoted Iranian Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia as saying on Sunday that the United States could launch a new attack on Iran due to what he described as a tense regional situation, adding that Tehran is ready to confront and inflict greater damage on Washington.
On Sunday, Iran held firm to its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, despite US President Donald Trump rejecting an Iranian proposal to reopen the waterway and halt the fighting, while Tehran awaits the final US position through intermediaries.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said, "Our conditions are clear," and that any step towards reopening the Strait of Hormuz is conditional on their fulfillment, affirming that Tehran will not back down and that a negotiated solution is the way out of the crisis.
Last week, during the UN General Assembly meetings in New York, Iran proposed reopening the Strait within 7 days and halting the fighting, to be followed by broader negotiations on agreed issues, including the nuclear file.
