Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf confirmed on Sunday that Iran will not open the Strait of Hormuz until its conditions are met and US commitments are fulfilled, as reported by the semi-official Fars News Agency.
Ghalibaf said that Iran must fight and negotiate simultaneously, adding that Tehran will use military force to deter its enemies and diplomacy to consolidate its gains on the battlefield when the time is right.
Iran has informed the United States of 7 conditions to start negotiations, coinciding with Israeli escalation towards Tehran, as military and diplomatic options intersect regarding the future of the confrontation and the nuclear file.
On Saturday, the Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Mohsen Rezaei, said on Saturday that Iran has informed the mediators of its conditions for resuming negotiations aimed at ending the war with the United States.
Rezaei explained in statements that these conditions include ending the war on all fronts, lifting the freeze on Iranian funds, and ending the naval blockade, adding that consultations are ongoing with Qatari and Pakistani mediators, and that Tehran is awaiting a response from US President Donald Trump.
He believed that Trump's estimates and calculations regarding Iran were wrong, and that the war came at the instigation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Rezaei said: "It is in Washington's interest to accept our conditions to end the war, and Trump's threats will achieve nothing, and we are ready for a decisive war"
He added that his country knows the weak points of the US military, pointing out that Iran is more prepared than before to face its air attacks.
