A new music hall was inaugurated at the Greek Catholic School in Achrafieh as part of an initiative by the Watan Music Salon, under the patronage of Father Nabil Haddad, and in the presence of Mrs. Haifa Najjar, representing the Minister of Education.
The Executive Director of the Watan Music Initiative, Mrs. Duha Abdel Khalek, said,:«The inauguration of the music hall represents an extension of the initiative's idea to bring music to children and youth, and to provide real spaces for emerging talents to learn, train, and express themselves».
Abdel Khalek pointed out that the presence of the hall within the school is particularly important, as music, when it enters the educational environment, becomes part of the child's development, giving them the opportunity to discover another aspect of their personality and abilities»and affirmed that supporting young talents is«an investment in the future of culture and art in Jordan».
The director of the Greek Catholic School, poet Ghudeir Haddadin, said:«that the inauguration of the hall represents a new step in the school's vision, which sees education as a comprehensive human development, and the school does not want the student to leave with only information, but also with the ability to express, imagine, create, and trust in what they can achieve».
Haddadin emphasized that music in school is not a side activity or an additional class, but«a space where the student learns to listen, discipline, teamwork, and self-expression, and every talent needs a place that believes in it before it needs a platform to showcase it».
According to Haddadin,«the hall came to give students a real space to discover their talents and nurture them»affirming that investing in art starts with the child, by giving them the opportunity to discover their own voice and find a space where they can say something that resembles them.
Haddadin appreciated the Watan Music initiative, considering that:«the partnership between cultural institutions and the school not only adds a new activity to school life but also opens new windows for students to life, and transforms culture and art from concepts we talk about into experiences our children live themselves».
Haddad emphasized the importance of art and music in school, pointing out that the arts give humans a space for expression, beauty, and dialogue, and help build a more open and communicative personality, and a school that opens its doors to music and art«also opens doors to the dreams of its children».
