The Jerash Governorate Awqaf Directorate has prepared an emergency plan in preparation for the winter season, which includes designating 38 mosques distributed across various regions of the governorate as shelters when needed, according to Jerash Awqaf Director Basem Al-Zoubi.
Al-Zoubi stated that the plan included the formation of an operations room and an emergency team at the directorate, and continuous coordination with the administrative governorate and relevant authorities to ensure a rapid response and handling of any emergency situations the governorate may witness.
He added that the plan included holding a meeting with Zakat committees in the governorate to raise their level of readiness and secure necessary blankets, food supplies, and basic aid when needed, contributing to supporting citizens in emergency situations.
Al-Zoubi indicated that the directorate has worked on maintaining fire extinguishers in mosques, refilling them, and checking their validity periodically, as a continuation of the campaign implemented over previous years to equip mosques with fire extinguishers.
He explained that the plan also included monitoring the readiness of mosques, their facilities, and basic services, and ensuring the availability of necessary requirements to deal with any emergency.
