Gaza Health: Depletion of oils needed to operate electric generators in hospitals

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned on Wednesday of the depletion of the quantities of oil needed to operate electric generators in hospitals, noting that this threatens the breakdown of generators and the cessation of power supplies to vital and life-saving departments.

The Ministry said in a statement that the depletion of the oils needed to operate the generators could lead to the immediate mechanical collapse and deterioration of the remaining operational generators, in light of complex engineering and technical conditions.

It added that the monthly requirement of oils needed to operate the electric generators exceeds 2,500 liters.

The Ministry explained that it had repeatedly warned that "emergency solutions" providing limited quantities of oil do not allow sufficient additional time for the continued operation of the generators, in light of the long operating hours and their urgent need for maintenance, which increases oil consumption.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza placed the concerned parties before their humanitarian responsibilities, calling for immediate intervention to ensure the entry of the necessary oils and spare parts, so as to ensure the continued operation of electric generators in hospitals.
