Chinese Ambassador: King's Visit Marked an Important Milestone in Strategic Partnership

The Chinese Embassy in Jordan held a reception on Wednesday to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nancy Namrouqa, several officials, diplomats, journalists, and invitees.

The Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Guo Wei, said that King Abdullah II's visit to China last month, in response to an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, marked a new milestone in the strategic partnership between the two countries and set new horizons for the development of Sino-Jordanian relations in the new era.

During the reception, he added that the King's visit to China was his first state visit to China in 11 years and the ninth since he ascended the throne, noting that His Majesty and President Xi Jinping held talks in Beijing and reached a number of important agreements on continuing to deepen the strategic partnership between China and Jordan.

He pointed out that the two sides signed 25 cooperation documents during the visit, covering areas such as trade, investment, energy, minerals, tourism, education, and others, which opened up new prospects for cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

He stressed that the most valuable foundation for Sino-Jordanian relations is mutual respect, trust, and steadfast support in issues that affect the core interests and major concerns of both countries.

He said that Jordan adheres to the One-China principle and supports China in achieving national reunification, while the Chinese side firmly supports the efforts made by Jordan to achieve peace, stability, and development in the region and supports the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites.

Guo Wei explained that practical cooperation is a solid pillar driving the continuous advancement of Sino-Jordanian relations, noting that the 25 cooperation documents signed by the two countries during the King's visit covered areas such as trade, investment, energy, minerals, tourism, and education, as well as emerging fields such as green economy, digital economy, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing, which have become new points of cooperation between the two countries.

He pointed out that Chinese companies appreciate Jordan's strategic location as a 'golden gateway' and its advantages in policies, talents, and resources, and look forward to working with the Jordanian side to create a shared future.

On the regional issue, the Chinese Ambassador said that the Middle East is still facing complex and serious situations, affirming his country's position based on respecting the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the region's countries, resolving differences through dialogue and negotiations, and making the countries of the region the decision-makers in their security and development.

He noted that President Xi Jinping proposed during his talks with King Abdullah II four principles to push for a solution to the Palestinian issue, namely adhering to a political solution, adhering to the two-state solution as the correct path, adhering to the principle of 'Palestinians governing Palestine,' and adhering to humanity, justice, and fairness.

He affirmed China's readiness to work with Jordan to push for a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue as soon as possible, noting that both sides attach common importance to the overall security situation in the region and call for respecting the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the region's countries, resolving differences through dialogue and negotiations, and working to maintain and strengthen the relevant ceasefire.

He said that China supports the countries of the region in developing good-neighborly relations, adhering to the concept of common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security, and establishing a new security framework in the Middle East.

He added that President Xi Jinping recently proposed, during his visit to Egypt, a four-point initiative to activate the internal dynamics of common security in the region, promote integrated governance of common security, consolidate the developmental foundations of common security, and enhance international coordination of common security in the region.

He stressed China's readiness to work with Jordan to practice these principles and initiatives and push for peace and stability in the region.

Regarding economic developments in China, Guo Wei said that the Chinese economy, under a complex and volatile international environment, continued to show great resilience and vitality.

He explained that the Chinese economy grew by 4.7% during the first half of this year, while China's total imports and exports of goods increased by 17.3% year-on-year in the first seven months of the year, with imports rising by 22%, exceeding the growth rate of exports for the fifth consecutive month, affirming that the huge Chinese market has become a major opportunity for the world.

He pointed out that the People's Republic of China has made a journey full of challenges and achievements over 77 years, noting that the Communist Party of China is celebrating the 105th anniversary of its founding this year.

He said that the Communist Party of China, during the historical journey, led the Chinese people in achieving a great leap from standing on their own feet to becoming rich and powerful, forging a path leading to China's progress, enhancing the well-being of the people, achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and opening a new path for humanity towards modernization.

On bilateral relations, Guo Wei said that China and Jordan will celebrate next year the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, considering this occasion a precious journey of walking side by side, getting to know each other, deepening friendship, and strengthening ties.

He noted that this year marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan of China and the second phase of Jordan's economic modernization vision, affirming China's readiness to work side by side with Jordan, guided by the agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries as a strategic reference, to continue to consolidate mutual political trust, deepen practical cooperation, enhance exchanges between the two peoples, intensify international cooperation, and build richer and more dynamic Sino-Jordanian relations.
