Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Wednesday that any security vacuum in southern Lebanon constitutes a pretext for attacks and an infringement on national sovereignty.
Aoun stressed that the security deployment in Nabatieh is linked to the Lebanese state's commitments and its negotiating position with Israel.
He affirmed that the security of Nabatieh and the areas not under Israeli occupation is an integral part of the security of a unified Lebanon.
He pointed out that Lebanon chose the path of negotiation because it is a sovereign state, confirming that this decision serves Lebanon's interests and is not to appease any external party.
He emphasized that there were no winners in all the wars Lebanon has witnessed; rather, everyone lost and the nation lost, stressing that his call to "end the state of hostility with Israel" means ending the wars that destroyed the country and claimed innocent lives, affirming that Lebanon can no longer bear them.
