Amman Greater Municipality has deployed its available machinery, equipment, and staff to support companies implementing cleaning works in the capital, until the arrival and readiness of their new equipment. This aims to ensure the continuity of service, address waste accumulation sites, and improve the regularity of collection in various areas.
The Municipality stated that it is reorganizing responsibilities and tasks with the implementing companies. This includes distributing tasks clearly in each area, linking the volume of work to available machinery and staff, and monitoring implementation on the ground.
Measures during the current week include enhancing cleaning works, monitoring sites with recurring accumulations and addressing them promptly, and determining the Municipality's and companies' responsibilities in each area. Teams also return to treated sites to verify the regularity of service and prevent the recurrence of accumulation.
Strengthening operational capacity is linked to the phased arrival of modern compressors and machinery, according to the approved supply program. The program includes enhancing the fleet before the end of October and completing additional batches before the end of the year. The Municipality will announce the confirmed numbers and dates, and what machinery has actually entered service.
The Municipality confirmed that there is a gradual improvement in the level of cleanliness and waste collection, with the percentage of complaints decreasing to 51% since the start of supporting companies implementing cleaning works, which will achieve a noticeable improvement over the next three weeks. Service development continues with the completion of the arrival and operation of new machinery.
The Municipality said that citizens' observations and site-specific reports help identify sites that need intervention and direct teams to them. Compliance with waste disposal instructions supports efforts to maintain neighborhood cleanliness. The Municipality and implementing entities are responsible for the regularity of collection and addressing accumulation.
