Irbid Municipality Distributes 5000 New Containers and Continues Paving Works in Culture Square

The Chairman of the Irbid Greater Municipality Committee, Imad Al-Azzam, confirmed that the Municipality's staff work around the clock and in various fields to ensure the continuity of services and improve field work methods, emphasizing that cleanliness, the environment, and controlling infrastructure are a shared responsibility that requires serious awareness and cooperation from citizens and business owners.

Al-Azzam pointed out during his speech that the Municipality completed its preparations for winter two months in advance, which included cleaning drains, rain canals, and purifying wadi canals in all areas under the Municipality to avoid any blockages or water accumulation during the rainy season.

He added that the Municipality's teams are carrying out maintenance and paving works in main streets, including Culture Square, in addition to enhancing the environmental system by installing new containers in markets and commercial areas, where the Municipality distributed about 5000 new containers suitable for the needs of neighborhoods and commercial streets.

Regarding the general cleanliness file, he explained that the Environment Department and night teams work to deliver the city free of waste by early morning hours, but individual wrong behaviors, such as throwing away coffee cups and beverage containers as soon as commercial activity begins, bring the field efforts back to square one.

Al-Azzam highlighted the phenomenon of throwing waste on the central islands in some main and commercial streets such as Abdul Hamid Sharaf Street, confirming that these practices are not befitting the urban appearance of Irbid City, and that the field teams continue their work around the clock to deal with these environmental hotspots.

He called on business owners and citizens to adhere to specific times for taking out waste—either at ten in the morning or ten at night—to facilitate its collection and lifting regularly, stressing that the required level of cleanliness cannot be achieved without the integration of the Municipality's staff efforts with the commitment of the local community.
