Amman Municipality Raises Readiness for Winter Season

The Greater Amman Municipality confirmed that it has started raising its readiness in preparation for the 2026-2027 winter season, to meet the requirements, in light of the weather fluctuations resulting from the phenomenon of climate change.

It explained that its specialized staff are identifying all rainwater drainage sites, numbering them, and downloading them onto regulatory signs, to facilitate their return and processing with the least time and effort, and downloading the rehabilitated and cleaned manholes onto GIS maps.

The Municipality pointed out that it is working to open and clean the torrents and natural valleys using bulldozers operating in the areas, and to ensure that there are no obstacles or debris obstructing the natural flow of water in them, with the necessity of notifying residents living in informal settlements to stay away from them, and providing tracked vehicles for use when necessary.

It confirmed that it is continuously monitoring the general condition of torrents and valleys, entrances and exits of culverts and box culverts, rainwater drainage sites, and open channels on bridges and tunnels, and maintaining their cleanliness by regulatory departments, in addition to cleaning manholes and rainwater drainage lines and ensuring the flow of water in them.

It explained that it is maintaining the pumps that will be present in the tunnels, and the water pumps (suction motors) available in the areas and districts, and ensuring their technical readiness.
